In order for an Animation / Scene to start after the Casambi units have been physically powered OFF and then back ON again, the following requirements need to be met:
- Have a Timer created, that would be running the Animation at the time of powering the units back ON again.
- Have "Activate timers on startup" option enabled under 'Control options'.
- Have at least one unit in the network powered ON at all times, to retain the "sense of time" for the network.
- This is the most important and overlooked requirement when trying to auto-start Animations, or Scenes after the units have been powered OFF. If all of the units in a Casambi network are powered OFF simultaneously, then the sense of time for the network is lost - and the Timer can't auto-start the Animation when the units regain power.
- So have at least one unit in the network powered ON at all times. Alternatively, there are Casambi partner products that are meant for this specific task: To retain the sense of time for the network, for a certain amount of time with their internal battery life. Examples;
- If Casambi Cloud Gateway also loses its power, it will automatically re-seed time to the network when power is restored.
- Vadsbo "BTWCM Clock backup" (with battery, retaining sense of time for a Casambi network up to 19 hours if there's a power outage) - https://casambi.com/ecosystem/btwcm-clock-backup/)
