Luminaires

Luminaires are placed into luminaire groups

in Casambi Pro, a luminaire group is a container inside a space, for housing luminaires after they have been paired to networks. In the commissioning phase, each luminaire is positioned inside a luminaire group with Casambi Pro for iOS. Each luminaire group is joined in the same network as its parent space.

Find detailed information about groups in the Luminaire Groups page.

Details about how to pair luminaires to groups can be found in the Pairing Devices to Networks page.

Luminaire properties

WIndows

In Casambi Pro for Windows, the luminaire properties are visible only after the real luminaires have been paired to luminaire groups. Luminaire properties are visible in the Properties pane when a luminaire is selected.

Only the luminaire name and the notes are editable in Pro for Windows.

iPad and iPhone

On iOS devices, luminaire properties include some additional information compared to what is seen in Windows:

  • For luminaires, it is possible to see luminaire's current status, identify it by blinking or turn the device on an off
  • Firmware can be updated if there is a newer version available
  • Device can be unpaired from the network

  1. Luminaire name. The name can be edited by tapping on the name field.

  2. Luminaire image, as defined in the fixture profile.

  3. Luminaire's current status.
    • This information is visible if the luminaire is within the Bluetooth range of the used iOS device.
    • Displayed values depend on the capabilities of the luminaire.

  4. Identify button. When tapped, the luminaire starts to blink. Tap the button again to stop blinking.

  5. Light on/off button. When tapped, the luminaire can be toggled On/Off.

  6. Firmware version. If there is a newer firmware version available, an Update button is shown.

  7. Network information, including names of the space and group where the luminaire is located in.

  8. Unpair Device button, which can be used to remove the luminaire from the current network.
    • Unpairing is the primary way to detach a device from networks.
    • If unpairing is not allowed in the network settings, the Unpair button cannot be used.

  9. Remove button: This option removes a device from the network without unpairing it. Therefore, the remove option should be used cautiously, only in cases where the device is unresponsive (e.g. broken) and cannot be unpaired.
