How does a Casambi Network retain its sense of time?

Modified on Tue, 3 Dec at 11:45 AM

The Casambi system retains "sense of time" for Time-based functions (such as Timers and Time-based scenes) - obtained from the Casambi app/mobile device, when connected to the mesh via Bluetooth.

In order to retain the sense of time, at least one mains (constantly) powered device needs to be powered ON at all times in the network. Other devices can be powered OFF/ON, and would receive the time information then from the unit that is constantly powered ON in the mesh.

If all units in the network lose power, when power is restored the Casambi App needs to be connected to the network for time to be reseeded from the mobile device to the network.

Casambi Ecosystem partners offer suitable devices for network timekeeping in case of a power outage. Please see our Ecosystem product offering at https://casambi.com/ecosystem/.
