This article explores how the CBU-DCS unit enables wireless control of DALI luminaires, what are the options in control and connection.
Casambi CBU-DCS allows DALI drivers and sensors to be connected to a Casambi network. CBU-DCS does not have own DALI power supply, so CBU-DCS has to be powered by the DALI bus (power supply or driver contained power supply. CBU-DCS supports up to 8 channels of individual control of luminaires.
For DALI driver control CBU-DCS offers four types of fixture profiles;
- Automatic addressing of the DALI bus devices (luminaires)
- Broadcast -type control of all devices in the bus simultaneously
- Control of pre-addressed drivers (requires separate addressing tool to be used)
- Control of DALI group -addressed drivers (requires separate addressing tool to be used)
CBU-DCS offers both DT6 and DT8 profiles.
The fixture profiles for CBU-DCS are listed in the datasheet, available from the downloads section at

Casambi CBU-DCS supports DALI bus power supply up to 250 mA (DALI standard maximum). Theoretically in broadcast control the limit is bus current divided by connected device current consumption. In addressed form CBU-DCS supports up to 8 devices or 8 DALI groups in DT6. DT8 control support is 1
A general wiring diagram for one DALI driver connected to CBU-DCS is as follows:
