Output refresh rate - parameter

The Output refresh rate parameter in Salvador Series products is a performance related parameter, which allows adjustment / tweaking of the performance and load of the DALI output.

With Output refresh rate parameter you can control, how quickly the Salvador device sends updates to DALI bus. The speed is adjusted by system adding extra delay, during which multiple changes of a virtual DALI node (a Salvador controlled DALI driver appearing in Casambi app Luminaires tab) are accumulated, and the final state is used for the output of (slow) DALI commands.

The "Slow / Long delay" output rate can be used to reduce the load and frame rate on the DALI bus, particularly in systems running complex dynamic scenes. These include scenarios where lighting is continuously updated by daylight control, animated DT8 color transitions, or frequent changes such as switch-based dimming. In such cases, a slower output rate helps by skipping redundant commands and can enable more efficient group control instead of sending individual commands to each DALI address.

In rare situations where the default accumulation interval of 200 milliseconds or shorter used by the Automatic default setting is not sufficient and a quicker response is needed, the "Fast / Short delay" output rate can be selected to achieve faster DALI output reactions.

Output refresh rate options are Fast / Short, Medium, Slow / Long and Automatic, which is the default setting. With Automatic setting, the output rate is 200 ms or shorter, depending on the used fade times. Shorter fade time will shorten the output interval.

SettingDelay TimeBest for...
Fast / Short (delay)100 msQuick reactions, minimal delay
Medium200 msBalanced performance
Slow / Long (delay)400 msComplex scenes, frequent updates
Automatic (Default)VariesAdjusts based on fade times

Note: Adjustment of this parameter is not usually needed. Output refresh rate of Salvador can be used on troubleshooting performance related issues or when dealing with extremely traffic heavy setup.
