Gateway parameters: Control priority

The hierarchy of command authority between the DALI controller and the Casambi Network is defined by Control Priority.

Available Priority Levels:

  • Manual control (Default)
    • Balanced control: Both the DALI controller and Casambi application/sensors can control the luminaires.
    • Ideal for systems where both interfaces are used interchangeably.
    • Important: The DALI system or the Casambi system may override each other’s settings, as both systems can issue control commands simultaneously. This can lead to conflicts in control behavior.
  • Higher than Manual
    • DALI overrides everything: Commands from the DALI system take precedence over all Casambi controls, including manual app control, sensors, and timers.
    • Use this when DALI is the primary control interface.
    • When creating a DALI Emergency integration, the preferred Control Priority is Higher than manual, if Control Scope is selected to contain Emergency Luminaires only. Important! DALI system settings have to be reflected respectively not to override Casambi System control and cause unwanted changes in the lighting scenes / levels.
  • Higher than automation
    • DALI overrides automation only: DALI commands override Casambi automation (like presence sensors or timers), but not manual control from the Casambi app or Casambi enabled physical switches.
    • Useful when you want to allow manual overrides, via the app or switches, but still let DALI take precedence over automated behaviors.
  •  Lowest-priority automation
    • DALI has the least authority: DALI can only control luminaires that are not currently under any Casambi control (manual or automated).
    • Best for systems where Casambi is the primary control method and DALI is used as a fallback or backup.
  • Disable
    • DALI commands are disabled: only DT1 Emergency commands from a DALI system will affect the Casambi network.
    • Best for systems where the only DALI control being used is for emergency lighting.
    • All other network control & programming is done in the Casambi network.

Regaining Casambi Control: If DALI has overridden Casambi control (especially in the higher-priority modes), you can use the “Resume Automation” button (@) in the Casambi app to restore Casambi control.
