Wired luminaires only
It is possible to create a fully wired solution that can be programmed entirely from Casambi using only Salvadors connected to a Casambi network. The network can consist of 250 nodes, most of which are wired DALI drivers, and can be programmed in the Casambi app. In this way you can achieve the same functionality as if the wired DALI luminaires were wireless Casambi enabled luminaires.
Upgrade an existing DALI network
If you wish to upgrade an existing DALI network by adding a Salvador and discovering and addressing the drivers, you need to remove all other devices such as application controllers, control panels and DALI software from the existing DALI network as Casambi Salvador is intended to operate only drivers. Depending on the Salvador series you use, the only thing you might need to leave on the DALI bus is a DALI power supply.
Hybrid solution
Casambi Salvadors can also be used in Hybrid solutions, where you have a mixture of wired DALI luminaires and wireless Casambi Ready luminaires. Please note that all the controls in such network must be Casambi enabled switches or sensors.
In hybrid use cases, it should be noted that Salvador does not use the same firmware as other Casambi enabled devices, but uses its own unique firmware. If Salvador firmware updates are required, each Salvador must be updated individually in the Casambi app from the "Nearby Devices" tab or the "Gateways" section.
When the Salvador is in a Casambi network it will communicate in the same way as every other Casambi device in the network transferring signals. It will act as one node in the mesh. The only restriction of the Salvador is on the firmware side - it will not transmit the standard Casambi firmware updates through a mesh. If you are planning to use a Salvador, ensure that all the wireless Casambi devices in the network are within a range of at least one other Casambi device.
